From: Grace Kwok Date: January 20, 2009 Subject: thank you for volunteering in December 2008 Dear Venita, Thank you very much for volunteering at our Holiday Gift Wrapping Booth at Pacific Centre in December 2008.  The gift wrapping booth is one of our annual major fund raising events; it is only made possible by the gift of time from devoted volunteers like yourself. There were so many interesting gifts we wrapped this year, of course: clothing and personal items such as purses and shoes are always the top picks. In the electronic gadgets, Blue Ray DVD players were the number one item this year replacing last year’s big hit: digital photo frames. The impeccable customer service and the polished presentation of the wrapped gifts were outstanding as always. “Canadian Mental Health Association runs the best gift wrapping booth in the province,” remarked one of our loyal customers who usually travels all the way from the   to have his items wrapped by our volunteers. In spite of a year of economic challenges, unexpected weather conditions and a new location, we were able to raise $18,000 in 24 days. We wrapped over 3000 gifts – an amazing result!  We even broke an all-time one-day record on December 23rd: over 500 gifts in one day.  Holiday Season is not the best of time for individuals affected by mental illness - the funds raised will go directly to assist individuals in their recovery, either in recreation activities, supported employment services or public education topics ranging from wellness to early intervention. Once again, our sincere thanks for your devoted hard work in helping us raise money to support our services. Gift Wrapping seems so far away at this time; however, your gift truly has made a lasting difference in many people’s lives.
